The San Antonio Spurs are one of the most successful franchises in the NBA, with much of that success coming since the turn of the century. Since 1999 they have won five NBA Championships and currently are enjoying a run of 22 straight seasons when they have made the Playoffs, driven to succeed by their long serving coach, Greg Popovich.

Playing their home games the AT&T Center on San Antonio’s east side, going to see the San Antonio Spurs gives an NBA fan the opportunity to see a consistently winning franchise in action in one of the US’ most vibrant and growing cities – famous for its fantastic food and scenic River Walk.

The Alamo: On the east side of Alamo Plaza is the most famous spot in Texas where 189 defenders fell on March 6, 1836, after repeated attacks by Mexican General Santa Anna’s army. Mission San Antonio de Valero (the Alamo) was established in 1718 as the city’s first mission. The chapel, one of the most photographed facades in the nation, and the Long Barracks are all that remain of the original fort. The Long Barracks Museum and Library is located near the chapel. The museum contains relics and mementos from the Republic of Texas and offers a narration on the fall of the Alamo. The Alamo is located in the heart of the city, inside beautifully landscaped grounds.


The River Walk: 20 feet below street level and steps from the famed Alamo, the Paseo del Rio, better known as the River Walk, awaits you. Aside the meandering San Antonio River, stone pathways connect shops, restaurants, hotels and museums with a blend of historic and modern architecture that resonates the depth of this centuries-old metropolis. Among these walkways, commerce meets culture with the sounds of mariachis serenading diners and river taxis carrying guests across the spring-fed river that has attracted people to this region for centuries. Soon the River Walk will extend from two to thirteen miles, connecting many of San Antonios prestigious museums and historic districts with beautifully preserved 18th century, Spanish Colonial missions.


SeaWolrd San Antonio: From Shamu to dolphins, sharks, seals, sea lions and much more, SeaWorld San Antonio is the world’s largest marine life park. After hanging out with Shamu or watching one of Sea World’s shows, head over to the roller-coaster action with the Great White, which is Texas’ first inverted steel roller-coaster or the Steel Eel for a bout of weightlessness. To cool off, ride Journey to Atlantis which is part roller-coaster, part water ride or dip into the Lost Lagoon.


Six Flags Fiesta Texas: Experience the best in thrilling rides, exciting live entertainment and a free waterpark all at Six Flags Fiesta Texas. Begin your adventure by facing your fears on the parks eighth roller coaster, Goliath. Towering 105 feet, Goliath propels riders down an 80-foot drop, two massive loops and five heart-pounding inversions all at 50 mph! Continue the thrills by soaring high on the Superman Krypton Coaster, taking gut-wrenching turns on Tony Hawks Big Spin and enjoying a daring free-fall down on Scream. Then soak up some family fun at White Water Bay, Fiesta Texas free waterpark. Get drenched on over 15 wild rides and slides, including Tornado, Big Bender and The Lone Star Lagoon, a wave pool not only shaped like Texas, but almost as big! Six Flags Fiesta Texas has won Amusement Todays Golden Ticket Award for The Best Theme Park Shows in the Country for an astounding 10 consecutive years!


The San Antonio Zoo: The San Antonio Zoo is ranked as one of the best zoos in the nation exhibiting over 3,500 animals of 600 species. Located at the headwaters of the San Antonio River, the Zoo encompasses 35 landscaped acres. Several interaction exhibits include: Kronkosky’s Tiny Tot Nature Spot, a magnificent mini-zoo designed specifically for children under 5, Butterflies! Caterpillar Flight School, a lush tropical habitat surrounded by hundreds of butterflies (open March – Nov), Fun Farm Petting Zoo where everyone can pet African Pygmy goats, and Lory Landing, a rainbow of colorful birds flying about the canopy of an outdoor aviary, occasionally landing on visitors ($1 to feed the lories).
